The Will of

Betsey Bogert Haring

Made May 8, 1889


In the name of God, Amen, I, Betsey Haring of the Township of Harrington in the County of Bergen and state of New Jersey, being of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding and considering the uncertainty of this life, do therefore make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament.

First: (pay debts)

Second: I give and bequeath unto my daughter, Anna Maria Onderdonk, one clothes press, two bedsteads, four brown chairs, one Boston rocker, one stand with drawers, two chairs with gilt stripes, one feather bed, one brass frame mirror, one ten pound woolen blanket, light blue and dark blue, one rose blanket and all my wearing apparel and album quilt.

Third: I give and bequeath unto my son Samuel B. Haring, one bookcase, four brown chairs, one sewing chair, two chairs with gilt stripes, one feather bed, one cane rocker, one ten pound woolen blanket, white and blue, one crazy worked quilt, one rose blanket, one black crape shawl, three (3) silver table spoons marked (letter "H" in script).

Fourth: I give and bequeath unto my son Albert Z. Haring, four chairs with gilt stripes, one round stand, one feather bed, one straw bed or mattress, one bedstead, one table, one washstand, one mirror with wooden frame, one sofa rocker, one silk quilt, one plain comfortable, one rose blanket, three (3) silver table spoons marked (letter "H" in script).

Fifth: I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Lydia Z. Haring, one diamond quilt, one red chair, and six (6) silver tea spoons marked (letter "H" in script).

Sixth: I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Anna Doremus, one eight pound linen and woolen blanket and one red chair.

Seventh: I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Carry Bonker, one star quilt and one red chair.

Eighth: I give and bequeath unto my grandson Milton Haring, one curtain quilt and one black chair.

Ninth: I give and bequeath unto my grandson David Haring, one calico quilt and one black chair.

Tenth: All the rest, residue and remainder of my estates, whether real, personal or mixed of whatsoever name, nature or description and wheresoever the same may be situate, I give, devise and bequeath to my daughter Anna Maria Onderdonk and to my two sons, Samuel B. Haring and Albert Z. Haring, to be divided equally between them.

Lastly, I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my said two sons the executors of my last will and testament.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 8th day of May, 1889.
